Dubai Capitals clashed against Sharjah Warriors in the 10th match of the International League T20 (ILT20) on Saturday in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. Warriors’ skipper Moeen Ali won the toss and invited the Capitals to put runs on the board.

While Root continued to impress everyone with his sublime form, he amazed the cricket fraternity as he played a gutsy reverse scoop shot against Naveen-ul-Haq for a six. He shaped early to clatter a fullish ball wide of the off stump and switched his stance to send that sailing. Root played many exquisite shots all over the park in Dubai.

Watch the clip here:

Capitals’ opener Root cracked an unbeaten 80 off 54 balls with eight fours and three sixes. However, they lost a couple of early wickets in the form of Uthappa and Suri, but Root and Lawrence had a very good partnership for the third wicket. Once Lawrence departed, their captain, Rovman Powell walked into bat and struck a few lusty blows, he scored 44 runs off 27 balls with five boundaries and a six. It was a pretty good batting effort by the Capitals overall as they finished with 177/4 in the end.

Brilliant century by Tom Kohler-Cadmore

Chris Woakes and Naveen were the only bowlers who managed to take wickets as both clinched two wickets each in their 4-overs quota. Unfortunately, their effort went in vain after Tom Kohler-Cadmore’s fastest century of the tournament. He scored 55 in his last match against MI Emirates, but his team lost the match by six wickets.

Talking about the Warriors’ chase, they got off to a breezy start with Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Kohler-Cadmore hitting a boundary and a six respectively off Mujeeb Ur Rehman’s second over.  The Warriors were ruthless in the powerplay as they smashed 95 runs in 6 overs. The Capitals could never recover from that blow. Kohler –Cadmore reached his century in 46 balls and Sharjah won the match with 32 balls to spare. Joe Denly remained unbeaten on 29.  It was a decent batting performance by the Capitals who posted a challenging total, but they would have hardly anticipated what was to follow next.
