England and Australia are clashing against each other in the 2nd Test of the Ashes 2023 series at the Lord’s on Wednesday, June 28. The Australian team clinched a thrilling victory in the first match at Edgbaston by just 2 wickets and took a lead of 1-0 in the 5-match iconic Ashes series.

Meanwhile, during the first session on Day 1, the play was halted for a few minutes after two protestors invaded the pitch and threw orange powder paint on the ground. Players from both teams stepped in to save the playing surface from being harmed. A protester was seen being lifted and carried out of the boundary by England wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow, and this caused the video to go viral.

Bairstow was observed transporting an intruder all the way to the edge of the boundary. The Ground Staff also devised a quick cleanup plan because the game did not stop for a longer period of time. Coming with orange powder paint were two demonstrators. Bairstow soon left the ground to change because his whites were dirty.

Disappointed not having Mark Wood: Ben Stokes

However, 'Just Stop Oil' protestors blocked the England team bus before the opening Test. Bairstow posted a photo of that along with the caption, "If we're a little late, it's not our fault." However, the squad arrived on time, and the game began as planned. Additionally, the Barmy army tweeted about the subject.

Talking about the match, England skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to ball first. He said that the overhead conditions have made the surface good for bowling. He also talked about Josh Tongue who will be playing his 2nd Test and 1st Ashes Test and said that he is a genuine allrounder.

"We are gonna have a bowl. Overhead conditions played a massive part and the surface looks good to have a bowl as well. Disappointed not having Woody, but Tongue is a like-for-like replacement. Joe is really enjoying the challenge (with the ball) and is turning into a genuine all-rounder. You can name a numerous amount of things in the last Test, but we could have been a lot tidier in some of the moments." Stokes said after winning the toss.
