Sharjah Warriors clashed against MI Emirates in the sixth match of the International League T20 (ILT20) 2023 on Tuesday, January 17, in Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah. It was the first match of the season on the iconic ground. Emirates won the toss and invited the Warriors to put runs on the scoreboard.

During the 15th over of the second innings, Noor Ahmad bowled a full-length delivery. Emirates’ skipper Kieron Pollard took a forward stride and lofted it downtown. He got off the mark with a monstrous six, it landed on the roof.

Earlier while batting first, Warriors’ opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz departed early on the score of just 15 runs. Dawid Malan joined Kohler-Cadmore and took the score past the 50-run mark in 5.3 overs. Kohler-Cadmore smashed Fazalhaq Farooqi for four boundaries in the last over of the powerplay.

A beautiful all-round performance by MI Emirates

Bravo ended the 56 runs partnership for the second wicket by having Malan caught behind by wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran for 14. Kohler Cadmore reached his half-century in 35 balls but the persistent Tahir had skipper Moeen Ali caught by Fletcher at long-on for 2. Tahir struck again with a beauty of a delivery to clean bowl Kohler-Cadmore for 55. In the 15th over, Bravo clean bowled Mohammad Nabi for 1 and Joe Denly for 4. Paul Walter's cameo towards the end ensured that the hosts got to a total in the vicinity of 150.

Chasing the target, Will Smeed came out with an aggressive mindset and struck six boundaries and that ensured that the Emirates were always ahead of the asking rate. Nabi was involved in a couple of dismissals as he ran Andre Fletcher out first and then nipped out Muhammad Waseem who was looking in good touch. Just when the Warriors thought of making a comeback into the contest, the two West Indies batters, Nicholas Pooran and Pollard - took the attack to the Sharjah bowlers. Pooran remained unbeaten on 39 off 21 balls with three sixes and a boundary and the Emirates chased down the total with 17 balls to spare.
