Argentina won the FIFA World Cup 2022 on Sunday after beating defending champions France 4-2 on penalties, following a dramatic 3-3 draw after extra time. Argentina keeper Emiliano Martinez saved Kingsley Coman's penalty and Aurelien Tchouameni fired wide to give Argentina their first world title since 1986, and third overall.

Post the win, Messi and his teammates celebrated the victory in style. Their celebration with the World Cup trophy eventually became the best thing of the evening.

Two-time champions, Argentina took on the defending champions France in the title clash of the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup. Lusail Stadium of Doha in Qatar hosted this match between two teams who had won the World Cup two times in the past. 

Argentina's dominance in the final: 

Argentina continued with their brilliance in the final in the initial part of the first half. The first chance came for them in the 23rd minute of the match when skipper Lionel Messi converted a penalty into a goal to help his team to take a lead of 1-0 in the early minutes of the match.

Later on, the 34-year-old senior winger Angel De Maria smashed a stunner to increase the lead from 1-0 to 2-0 in favor of his team. Messi’s men maintained this lead till the end of the maximum part of the second half of the match, but the celebrated and star French center-forward Kylian Mbappe completely turned the tables in the 80th minute of the match by converting a penalty into a goal.

Keeping his adrenaline high, Mbappe scored the second consecutive goal within a few minutes in the 82nd minute of the match. It miraculously changed the numbers on the scorecard of the match to an equal scoreline of 2-2.

Messi went on to turn the table in favor of Argentina during the second half of the extra time when he took the score line to 3-2 for his team. But the match didn’t end here only. Mbappe cleared a penalty into a goal to take the match to the penalty Shoot-out.
