In the 20th game of the Caribbean Premier League 2023 (CPL 2023), the Trinbago Knight Riders beat the Barbados Royals by 42 runs. In a high-scoring encounter, Trinbago's wicketkeeper-batsman Nicholas Pooran scored an amazing century to help his team register a victory.
After losing their last match against the Guyana Amazon Warriors, Trinbago were called to bat first. The decision went well for the Royals, as they dismissed opener Mark Deyal for just 20 runs. However, after his departure, Martin Guptill and Nicholas Pooran added 56 runs for the second wicket. Guptill, in his innings, scored 38 runs off 30 balls with the help of five boundaries.
Meanwhile, Pooran continued his dominance with the bat as he scored another century in the CPL. Pooran scored an unbeatable 102 runs off 53 balls with the help of five fours and ten sixes. Despite his seer madness, Trinbago was looking uncomfortable due to a lack of support for Pooran.

However, in the end, Andre Russell added 82 runs for the fifth wicket. Russell, in his innings, scored 39 runs off 22 balls with the help of two fours and four sixes. With their efforts, the Trinbago Knight Riders posted 208/6 in 20 overs. Meanwhile, for Barbados, Jason Holder clinched two wickets.
Kyle Mayers failed to clinch victory for the Barbados Royals
Chasing 200+ The Royals got the worst possible start as they lost opener Rahkeem Cornwall for just 13 runs. However, after that, another opener, Kyle Mayers, and Laurie Evans added 41 runs for the second wicket. Evans, in his inning, scored 20 runs off 23 balls with the help of two fours and a six. Meanwhile, Mayers continued his batting dominance.
He smocked half a century and tried to rescue his team. Mayers, in his innings, scored 70 runs off 45 balls with the help of seven fours and four sixes. However, due to a lack of support, the Royals fell 41 runs short of the target. For Trinbago, Akeal Hossain and Waqar Salaamkheli took two wickets each. With this victory, Trinbago moved to second position in the points table with nine points in seven matches.
