Previously, in 2018, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar and Sanjay Manjrekar escaped unharmed after one of the commentary box's glass doors smashed just as the duo was entering the enclosure at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. “One of the glass doors just crumbled like a pack of cards but luckily no one sustained any injuries. All are safe,” Manjrekar later said.
In the meantime, the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League just concluded with Chennai Super Kings, under the leadership of MS Dhoni, lifting their 5th title. They beat Hardik Pandya's Gujarat Titans in the finals by a margin of 5 wickets in a rain-interrupted game, which was postponed to the reserve day, at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
The Indian and Australian players are now on to their next assignment, the World Test Championship Finals. The two cricketing superpowers will be in action from the 7th of June to the 11th of June with the 12th of June serving as the reserve day at the Kennington Oval in London.
The Indian Team got close to getting their hands on the Test Mace the last time, but New Zealand got the better of them in the finals in 2021. They will now look to win their finals under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.
