In the first doubleheader of the ongoing CPL 2023, St Lucia played hosts to five-time finalists, Guyana Amazon Warriors. The game was shortened to five-over-a-side due to rain. In the end, the two-time finalists, the Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first. In the third over, Chris Sole bowled a bouncer against which Chanderpaul Hemraj played a pull shot.
The latter misconnected the shot as the ball reached more quickly to him than anticipated. It meant that the ball stuck on the sticker and went towards long on. Roston Chase ran in and his one leg slipped as the outfield was a bit greasy. However, he recovered well and took the catch to send back the opening batter, Hemraj.

CPL 2023's first doubleheader washed out due to rain
In what was the first doubleheader of the ongoing season, four teams - Trinbago Knight Riders, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Guyana Amazon Warriors, and St Lucia Kings could only play eight overs combined. In the first game played between TKR and STKNP, the 2021 winners, Patriots won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Sheldon Cottrell took the wicket of Martin Guptill, who made his Knight Riders debut in the CPL. The latter previously played for the Warriors and Barbados Tridents (now Royals). Meanwhile, after three overs into the Trinidad and Tobago-based side, rain halted the game and ensured both former champions shared the spoils as the game couldn't be restarted.
A few hours later, the Warriors and Kings were meant to play each other. After a rain delay, it was decided that a five-over game will be played. For obvious reasons, the Blue brigade, Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first. However, after the Guyana's innings, rain came back and ensured two more teams shared the spoils.
