The Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8 kicked off with a thriller match between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars. On Monday at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan, Lahore defeated Sultans by one run on the last ball of the match. Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi shined with the ball for Qalandars as they dismissed two set batters to derail the run chase of Sultans.
Although the match also witnessed a brain fade moment when Shahnawaz Dahani messed up an easy run-out chance during the first innings of the match. During the 17th over of Qalandar's innings, Dahani was bowling his third over to Sikandar Raza. On the very first ball of the over, Raza tapped the ball back to the bowler while his partner Hussain Talat ran for a quick single. Talat was halfway down when he realized that Raza is least interested in the run.
Dahani has ample time to inflict a run-out but he messed with it. When Talat charged back to the crease, Dahani picked the ball and threw it towards the stump and missed it. However, it was surprising that Dahani decided to throw the ball when he could have dislodged the stumps by just running toward it.
Here is the video of the incident

Spectators including commentators shocked by Shahnawaz Dahani's brain fade:
The incident shocked the viewers including on-air commentators who were amused by it. On-air commentator and former Pakistan player Waqar Younis said:
"They are both at one end. He could have just run. WHY? WHY? God," while the other one said, "Oh it's bad, it's really bad," followed by a burst of laughter caught on the mic.
However, the start of PSL season 8 didn’t go well as the season opener between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars was postponed by about 30 minutes. This delay is caused due to the fireworks before the opening ceremony. A floodlight had started to burn because of a cracker and led to a chaotic environment.
