India are playing against Bangladesh in a two-match Test series that kicked off on December 14 in Chattogram. In the 84th over of the innings, pace bowler Ebadot Hossain managed to breach Iyer's defence. The ball thumped into the stumps only for the bails to not be removed at all. Interestingly, the bails moved from their position due to the impact but didn't fall down according to the rules leading to the batter surviving a close shave.

Shreyas Iyer was on 77 when the incident took place and he ended the day unbeaten. He was also dropped on 67 by Ebadot in the deep and the man rode his luck on the day.

India's middle order rescued the Indian innings

After winning the toss, Rahul opted to bat first, and opener Shubman Gill and Rahul gave India a good start. The pair added 41 runs for the opening wicket before a poor shot selection by Shubman Gill that cost him his wicket. He was dismissed by Taijul Islam for 20. Rahul departed shortly against Khaled Ahmed as he chopped the ball back onto his stumps. Later on, Virat Kohli was dismissed on 1 by Taijul Islam.

In the first session, Bangladesh reduced India to 48 for 3 before Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant led the recovery in their contrasting styles to take them to a respectable 85 for 3 by lunch. The KL Rahul-led team continued their recovery to reach 174 for 4 at tea. However, Pujara who was nearing to a Test century got bowled by Taijul Islam on 90. He wasn’t lucky as Iyer. It was very unfortunate to miss the century. A timely breakthrough for Bangladesh as the big partnership was finally broken.

After losing the ODI series, India will be aiming to go all-out against Bangladesh in the two-match Test series. India suffered a lot of key injuries during the three-match ODI series, in which they lost 2-1 to a dominant Bangladesh. The Bangladeshi team might also look weaker in the Test format as many of the star Bangladeshi players won’t be playing.
