India batter Shubman Gill was seen in a light mood during Day 1 of the ongoing first Test against West Indies. The team has had a rough one month after losing the World Test Championship final 2023. Since then, they played no cricket and the relevance of their ongoing tour of the West Indies was in question. Not to forget, the Caribbean ODI side managed to miss out on the 2023 ODI World Cup spot.

Meanwhile, the Asian side dominated the proceedings as they bowled out the Windies for 150 runs. In the first two sessions of the day, the two-time WTC finalists took four wickets each. Meanwhile, before the home team was bowled out, Gill could be seen dancing at short leg beside Rahkeem Cornwall. The video was uploaded by FanCode, the broadcast rights holder in India.

In reply, India has amassed 80/0 with debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Rohit Sharma razing off most of the trail. Gill, who has opened the batting for India, will bat at number three.

Shubman Gill told Rahul Dravid that he wants to bat at number three: Rohit Sharma

Ahead of the game, skipper Sharma told the media that Gill spoke to Rahul Dravid about his batting position. The 2018 U19 World Cup will bat at number three as stated by Rohit. The former has batted at three or four in domestic cricket.

"Shubman Gill will play at No. 3 because he wants to play at three," Rohit said. "He told Rahul bhai that he has played all of his cricket at No. 3 and No. 4 and that he can do better for the team at No. 3. It helps us too as it creates a left-right opening combination. This is what we are trying and hopefully, this becomes a long-term thing as we have been desperate for a left-hander. We have got that left-hander in Jaiswal and let's hope that he performs well for the team and he can really make that spot his own."
