After brutally getting knocked out from the semi-final against England in the 20-20 World Cup 2022. India are back in action against the Kiwis in a three-match T20I series. Unfortunately, the first match was washed out due to rain.
The Hardik Pandya-led team are playing their second T20 match against the kiwis at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. In the absence of some senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul, the team will be playing under the leadership of Pandya whereas Rishabh Pant is named as the Vice-Captain of the team. Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan will be seen leading the ODI team for the NZ tour.
New Zealand decided to field first after winning the toss. India started their innings with the new opening pair of Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant. Ishan started the innings by hitting some good boundaries in the powerplay while Pant failed to deliver a good start. After struggling a lot in the powerplay, Pant tried to send the ball out of the park but eventually ended up giving his wicket to Lockie Ferguson.
Suryakumar Yadav Brings a brilliant show
Coming in at no.3 Suryakumar Yadav did not take too much time to settle as usual. He started playing aggressively from the start and played brilliant innings of 111 runs from just 51 balls which included 7 huge sixes and 11 fours. His innings helped India to put in a fighting total of 191 runs for the Kiwis. However, in the last over, Tim Southee took a brilliant hat trick and restricted India to under 200 runs.

The 32-year-old is currently the world no.1 ranked T20I batsman and carried his marvelous form during the 20-20 World cup 2022 scoring 239 runs at a strike rate of 189.68. He also scored 3 half-centuries in the tournament. The talented batsman also scored a brilliant T20I ton earlier this year against England.
New Zealand will look to achieve the target without losing early wickets. They will also look to make use of fielding restrictions in the powerplay. The Kane Williamson-led side performed really well in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 but unfortunately got knocked out by Pakistan in the semis.
Update: India won the match by 65 runs after dismissing the New Zealand team at just 126 in 18.5 overs. The Men in Blue lead by 1-0 in the series with just one match to go.
