Ahead of the crucial India vs. Pakistan Super Four clash in the Asia Cup 2023, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam backs his team. In the pre-match press conference, Babar said that his team has a slight edge over India in the upcoming game. He claimed that due to consistently playing cricket in Sri Lankan conditions, they are better prepared.
"Given the continuous cricket we are playing both in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, you can say that we hold an edge (over India). We have been playing here in Sri Lanka for the past two months or so. We have played Tests, we played a series against Afghanistan, and then the LPL... So it can be said that we have an advantage", says Babar Azam.
It's worth noting that due to the hybrid model, this year's Pakistani team travelled a lot in and out of Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Speaking about this, Babar said that they were already prepared for the schedule. "We always knew the schedule and how much we had to travel. So, it's become important to look after our players. We have planned everything well", says Babar.
"They have a quality bowling unit", Shubman Gill says of Pakistan
Meanwhile, from the Indian side, star opening batter Shubman Gill came to attend the press conference. In the pre-match presser, Gill praised the Pakistani bowling unit and said that Indian batters are not used to it. He said, "When you are playing at this level, you have played left-arm pacers previously at some point in your career. We do not play Pakistan that much as compared to the other sides. They have a quality bowling attack. When you do not face such a bowling attack frequently and are not used to it, it makes a difference."
It's worth noting that India will need to win the Super 4 game against Pakistan on Sunday to keep their way clean. Meanwhile, if Pakistan registers a victory against India, they will be through to the finals of the tournament. However, amid the high-voltage clash, the weather might play a spoilsport during the game as there are up to 80 per cent chances of rain.
