Women's T20 League: Ahmedabad based franchise unveils logo ahead of player auction

The player auction for the inaugural season of the Women’s T20 League is set to be organized at Jio World Convention Center on February 13. All five teams and match officials are preparing for it. Meanwhile, a day before the auction the most expensive franchise of the league the Gujarat franchise unveiled its Logo. The franchise was bought by Adani Sportsline Pvt. Ltd. at a whooping sum of INR 1289 crore.

The logo of the Ahmedabad-based team comprises a roaring lion. Unveiling their logo the team said, “the Asiatic Lioness roaring and looking forward to any challenge! The Asiatic Lion, found only in Gujarat’s Gir National Park, is an enduring symbol of the state. Asiatic Lionesses form large prides and hunt together, thereby forming a lethal prospect for all their preys.”

The team has already announced their support staff as they roped in former India Captain Mithali Raj as a mentor. Apart from Mithali, the team has appointed former Australian cricketer Rachael Haynes as the head coach. On the other hand, the team’s bowling coach is the former Indian spinner Nooshin Al Khadeer. All-rounder Tushar Arothe will be their batting coach and Gavan Twining will be the team’s fielding coach respectively.

Indian Cricket Board shortlisted players for the auction

Meanwhile, the Indian Cricket Board has announced the list of players for the inaugural edition of the tournament. Out of 1525 players registered for the auction 409 will go under the hammer on Monday. All five teams can maximum rope in 90 players collectively as each team can have a maximum of 18 players in the squad.

All five teams will have a purse of 12 crore rupees for the auction of which a minimum of 9 crores is to be spent compulsorily. A team can have a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 18 players in the squad out of which six could be foreign players.
