India and Australia are set to clash against each other in the Test Championship final which which will take place between June 7 and 11 at the Oval. This is the second consecutive time the Men in Blue have qualified for the Test Championship, however, they had to face defeat in 2021 against New Zealand.
The mega contest has a high chance to end up in a draw as rain plays a major role in London. The two teams will share the championship if the game is tied or drawn. Australia's position atop the WTC points standings does not guarantee them the championship. However, a reserve day of June 12 has been set aside in case the weather decides to ruin the event.
What is Reserve Day?
If there is no outcome even after the reserve day, the game will be ruled a draw. But it can only be used if there are net playing time losses during the final's five planned days. The total net playing time for each Test is 30 hours or six hours per day. Only if the time lost during regulation play on each day is not made up on the same day does the reserve day begin.
It is zero net time lost, for instance, if you miss an hour of play because of the rain but make it up by the end of the day. However, if play is halted for an entire day due to rain and just three hours are made up over the next four days, the match will not have enough net playing time. The reserve day begins at that point.
