Punjab Kings (PBKS) registered a thrilling victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai by 13 runs in the 31st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Sunday, April 22. PBKS wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma played a brilliant cameo innings of 25 runs which came off just 7 deliveries, he smashed 4 sixes during that knock.
Meanwhile, Jitesh talked about the match later and said that until Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav were present on the pitch, anything could have happened as they have the ability to change the game from anywhere. However, during this, he also mentioned that Rohit and Suryakumar are his favourite batter, and after this many fans on social media gave different reactions to it.
"My favourite batter is Rohit Sharma, then Surya bhai is one of my favourites, even though I am a PBKS player but these two can change the game at any time & I like their batting".
Arshdeep pushes himself to improve day by day: Jitesh Sharma
Talking about the match, PBKS put up a monumental total of 214 runs in front of MI, courtesy of a breathtaking half-century by skipper Sam Curran. In response, MI were also playing well and at one it looked like they will chase the target easily as Suryakumar and Cameron Green were batting beautifully, however, in the end, they couldn't keep their nerves and lost the match by 13 runs.
Arshdeep Singh was given the ball to defend 16 runs in the last over and he displayed a brilliant performance as he conceded only 2 runs and also dismissed two batters as well. Jitesh appreciated the fast bowler and said that he is keen to learn every day.
“Obviously, because we do it in the nets, we are able to do it in the match. It’s not a wonder or magic thing. He works in the nets, around the wicket, over the wicket, and wide Yorkers. His hard work paid off today,” Jitesh was quoted as saying in the post-match press conference
“He is a smart bowler and is someone who is very keen and eager to learn every day. He talks to me. He pushes himself to improve day by day,” Jitesh added.
