Former West Indies skipper Chris Gayle is playing for Mississauga Panthers in the ongoing Global T20 Canada 2023. The team is making its debut in the ongoing season. Also, the tournament is returning after the 2019 season. The first two seasons were played in 2018 and 2019. The tournament came to a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic and payment issues. Meanwhile, Gayle played the first two seasons for Vancouver Knights.

This time around, he is playing for the debutants. In the game against his former team on July 22. In that game, Gayle played uncharacteristic innings. In that game, he scored a 49-ball 50. The left-hander went on to score 55-ball 61 including four fours and three sixes. Notably, his team lost four wickets for 35. The likes of Tom Cooper, Navneet Dhaliwal, Jaskaran Singh, skipper Shoaib Malik, and James Neesham failed to make an impact.
