India and Australia clashed against each other in the second match of the four-match Test series at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Australia are on the top as they have already cleared the Indian top order, courtesy of Australian spinners Nathon Lyon, Todd Murphy, and Matthew Kuhnemann. Lyon did wonders in the first session of the second day as he picked up 4 wickets in his spell and achieved the five-wicket haul feat in the second session.

Meanwhile, former Indian captain, Virat Kohl, who was looking well and set on the crease, fell after a controversial decision by umpire Nitin Menon. The umpire raised his finger after the Australian players appealed following Kohli offering a defensive shot to a delivery by Kuhnemann.

Unhappy with the decision, Kohli referred it to the third umpire and TV replays showed that the ball might have made contact with the bat first on its way to the pad. But the TV umpire concluded that it might have hit the pad first, after which Kohli was adjudged LBW. Many fans shared their disappointment after the dismissal on social media.

Nathan Lyon becomes third player to take 100 wickets against India

Earlier, Lyon trapped Indian opener KL Rahul and then bowled Rohit Sharma out before again trapping Pujara LBW after seeing a review not taken when the Indian no.3 was plumb. Indian middle order batter, Shreyas Iyer who missed the first Test due to an injury, fell to a sensational reflex catch at short-leg by Peter Handscomb. Suryakumar Yadav made his debut in the first Test against Australia as he replaced the injured Iyer, however, couldn’t do anything special as he got out after scoring only 8 runs.

Coming back to the second Test, Ravindra Jadeja and Kohli stitched a beautiful 59-run stand for the fifth wicket but Murphy, who is playing his second Test of the career, broke the crucial partnership as he took Jadeja’s wicket. Kuhnemann got Kohli’s wicket while Lyon got KS Bharat and became the third player to take 100 wickets against India.
