In response to India's commanding first innings total of 438 runs, West Indies responded with a strong batting performance during the final session of the second Test on Day 2. The hosts only lost one wicket and registered a respectable score of 86/1 at Stumps. Opener Kraig Braithwaite and debutant Kirk McKnezie remain unbeaten as the day ends with some great performances.

It's worth noting that West Indies opener Braithwaite, along with Tagenarine Chanderpaul added 71 runs for the first wicket. Braithwaite, in his innings, scored an unbeaten 37 runs off 128 balls with three fours, while, Chanderpaul scored 33 runs off 95 balls with four fours.

However, it was India's ace spinner Ravindra Jadeja who provided the breakthrough for the visitors, dismissing Chanderpaul for 33 runs. Chanderpaul's attempted shot resulted in an edge to the short third man where Ravichandran Ashwin was stationed, and the catch was comfortably taken. At the end of the day's play, the West Indies batting display was anchored by the unbeaten duo of Kirk Mckenzie (14*) and Kraigg Braithwaite (37*), who managed to see off the challenging bowling attack from the Indian team.

Virat Kohli hammered an overseas century after five years

Earlier, the Indian side had set a formidable target, built on a historic century from former captain Virat Kohli in his 500th international match. Kohli scored 121 runs off 206 deliveries with the help of eleven fours. Kohli's brilliant knock was supported by fifties from Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Ravichandran Ashwin, propelling India to a massive total of 438 runs.

Notably, this is Kohli's 76th international century and 12th against the West Indies. His amazing batting performance outplayed the hosts. It's worth noting that Kohli took almost 55 months to score an overseas century. In his historic innings, Kohli also registered his third run-out in Test cricket and first against the West Indies. Earlier, two had come against Australia in Adelaide in 2012 and 2020.
