The four-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) are set to lock horns against each other in the final match of the Indian Premier League 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 28. However, the match was delayed due to rain and there are no reports whether the match will happen on May 28 or not.

Meanwhile, ahead of the final contest, a photo from the venue sparked a social media uproar with many alleging the IPL 2023 final is scripted as the words "Runner up Chennai Super Kings" were written on an image of a huge screen. However, it was later reported that it was a screen test before the start of the match.

GT will be facing off against CSK for the third time this year. GT enjoyed a successful start to their championship defence in the opening match in Ahmedabad, but CSK avenged the loss when they hosted Gujarat at the Chepauk in Qualifier 1 match, becoming the first team to advance to the final this year. The difficult journey to the final was then undertaken by Hardik Pandya's team, who did it admirably with a 62-run victory in Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday.

Gujarat Titans have been the best team: Sunil Gavaskar

This season, GT has won five of its eight games played there, while its most recent loss came on May 2 to Delhi Capitals. Since then, they've won three straight matches. Meanwhile, the former legendary Indian cricketer thinks GT is the best team, but in his heart he wants Chennai Super Kings to win the championship for MS Dhoni. Gavaskar also acknowledged that, after his home team Mumbai Indians, CSK is his second-favourite IPL team.

“Chennai Super Kings have always been my second favourite team apart from the Mumbai Indians. My heart wants CSK to win because the fact that MS Dhoni is able to win it one more time would be fantastic. Proving once again that calm, cool decision-making can make a difference. Having said that, Gujarat Titans have been the best team. They have got a terrific opener in Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya.” Gavaskar was quoted as saying by India Today.
