Australian veteran off-spinner Nathan Lyon produced a magical bowling performance in the second innings of the third Test of the four-match Test series in Indore. Lyon was the star bowler from the Australian team as he took 8 wickets in the second innings. The day started with Cameron Green and Peter Handscomb continuing the innings as Australia ended 156/4 on Day 1.

Both were looking comfortable in the morning, however, the partnership couldn’t last long as Indian off-spinner R Ashwin struck right after the drinks break. Australian batting line-up scattered like a pack of cards after that. They lost their 6 wickets for 11 runs.

Indian fast bowler Umesh Yadav did the unexpected thing on the spinning track as he got rid of the Australian tailenders pretty fast. Both Ashwin and Umesh picked the last 6 wickets of the Australian team and dismissed them on the score of 197 runs.

Australia heading toward their first win in the series

India started the second innings with 88 runs behind, and soon they lost four wickets, as Lyon was bowling beautifully. There was a brief counterattack from Shreyas Iyer, who took the attack to the spinners, racing to 26 off 27 balls.

But before he could really put the Aussies under pressure, Mitchell Starc was brought back and he had him caught brilliantly at midwicket by Khawaja. However, Cheteshwar Pujara was looking solid at the crease but Steve Smith’s brilliant catch in the leg slip ended his brilliant inning.

Lyon then took over again, bowling tirelessly as he wheeled away for close to 24 overs out of the 61 that were bowled. And he was so consistent with his lengths from round the wicket, getting the ball to dip considerably and also making the most of the help on offer.

Due to Lyon’s magical bowling, the Indian team bundled out on the score of 163 runs in the second innings and gave the Australian team a small target of 76 runs and now it looks like that the match has slipped away from India’s hand.
