Ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024, the Lucknow Super Giants have signed former Australia coach Justin Langer. Langer will join the franchise as Head Coach after Andy Flower parted ways with LSG. It's worth noting that Langer has a great connection with LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir used to take tips from Langer during his cricketing days.
Meanwhile, a recent report suggests that Gambhir suggested Langer's name as head coach for the franchise. Knowing the capacity of Langer and his work ethic, Gambhir suggested his name for the most important role within the franchise. This all came after Flower decided to join the Australian men's team as a consultant before the Ashes in 2023.

Gautam Gambhir had offered Langer to join KKR as well in 2015
Interestingly, Gautam Gambhir and Justin Langer have known each other since 2015. Gambhir began practising under Langer's guidance in June 2015, with the goal of improving his whole game. In just 20 days of training, Gambhir was so impressed with Langer's comprehensive approach to understanding his game that he was sure he should be the head coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.
However, Langer gently declined Gambhir's offer on behalf of the KKR management because he needed to care for his ailing mother, who was battling cancer at the time. Notably, Langer has been a phenomenal coach with a great history. He has led the Australian team since the famous Sandpaper Gate. He took the team and rebuilt it to win the Ashes 2020–21 in Australia before resigning from the post.
