Australia's star batter Steve Smith is all set to be a part of the upcoming 16th edition of the Indian T20 League. However, he will be taking part as a commentator as, earlier, he opted out of the tournament due to personal reasons. He also went unsold in the 2022 mega auction and took his name out from the mini-auction.

Meanwhile, the star right-hander picked his top-4 teams who might qualify for playoffs in the upcoming season. Smith picked Chennai, Gujarat, Lucknow, and Hyderabad as his top-4 teams. However, it was pretty surprising as he didn't pick his former teams i.e., Rajasthan and Delhi. Many fans also reacted to his statement, and while many fans agreed to his opinion there were also many fans who weren't satisfied with his picks.

I’m looking forward to this new experience: Steve Smith

Smith was, recently, seen in action against India in the Test and ODI tour but he failed to produce anything special for the team and for himself as he couldn't even hit a single half-century in the entire tour. Smith will be seen in a whole new avatar in the commentary box, he also expressed his excitement of joining the commentary team as it is going to be a completely new experience for him.

"I think I read the game pretty well so hopefully there will be some good insights for all the people watching the Indian T20 League out there. I’m certainly excited about joining the Star Sports Team and I’m looking forward to this new experience,” Smith said about his new role ahead of the opening match.

The former Rajasthan skipper performed brilliantly in the recently concluded Big Bash League for Sydney Sixers where he smashed two centuries and scored 346 runs in just 5 matches he played. The fans will definitely miss him on the field as his presence brings lots of entertainment for the fans. Smith last seen in the cash-rich league in 2021 for the Delhi-based franchise where he scored 152 runs in 8 matches due to which he was released before the mega auction.
