The action returned on Friday in the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) hosting the defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. RR came into this game against the backdrop of a defeat at the hands of the Mumbai Indians. At the same time, GT were riding on a surprising loss of their own at the hands of the Delhi Capitals.

The home team won the toss and elected to bat first. However, they were struck by the expertise of the GT bowlers as they were bowled out for 118 inside 18 overs. With 30 off 20, Skipper Sanju Samson was the only RR batter to get past the 15-run mark in a forgettable batting display from the home team. For GT, Rashid Khan dropped a spell to be remembered logging figures of 3/14 in four overs. Noor Ahmed returned with two scalps, whereas Mohammed Shami, Hardik Pandya and Joshua Little had one wicket apiece.

For RR, the solitary wicket was bagged by Yuzvendra Chahal, who dismissed Shubman Gill in the 10 overs.
