'Yehi log abh jitenge'- Fans react as Seattle Orcas defeat Texas Super Kings to reach first Major League Cricket Final

The Seattle Orcas (SEO) faced the Texas Super Kings (TSK) in the first Qualifier match of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2023.

The Seattle Orcas (SEO) faced the Texas Super Kings (TSK) in the first Qualifier match of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2023 tournament at Grand Prairie Stadium on Thursday evening. The Texas Super Kings won the toss and chose to bat first.

Batting first, the Texas Super Kings failed to create traction against the Seattle Orcas' excellent bowling performance. In their allocated 20 overs, they managed to score 126-9. Devon Conway and Cody Chetty led the way with 24 runs each, while Daniel Sams played a critical 26 runs down the order. Andrew Tye was the Orcas' standout bowler, taking three wickets, while Imad Wasim and Harmeet Singh made vital breakthroughs.

Quinton de Kock leads Orcas for their first final

Quinton de Kock played a magnificent innings of 88* runs from 50 balls. His aggressive batting took the game away from the Super Kings as he built a match-winning partnership with Shehan Jayasuriya, who played a steady knock of 31 runs.

The Protea opener was named the man of the match for his blistering knock. He said, "I honestly did not really want to come back tomorrow and play so just wanted to get the job done today (smiles). (On what he has been working on) Not much, to be honest. One or two practices and, that is it. There will be one or two celebrations and that will be pretty much it. Would love to finish off this tournament on a high."

The Super Kings captain Faf du Plessis said in the post-match presentation, "It’s a bad day at the office. We thought the pitch was going to be real slow. But it’s night time so I think we made a mistake at the toss."

The Orcas reached the target comfortably in 15 overs with 9 wickets to spare, finishing at 127/1. They were the first team to reach the final of MLC, while the Super Kings will face MI New York who defeated the Washington Freedom in the Eliminator by 16 runs. The MLC Final will be played, on Sunday.
