Former Zimbabwe international Andy Flower has joined three-time IPL finalists, Royal Challengers Bangalore as their head coach. The position has been left vacant after the franchise let go of Sanjay Bangar. Apart from the former India cricketer, the team's director of cricket operations, Mike Hesson has been let go. The former New Zealand head coach joined the team in 2019.
During his tenure, the team reached the playoffs in 2020, 2021, and 2022. These seasons were played in neutral venues due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, the team was knocked out in the first round as they failed departments such as middle-order, batting, and bowling in the middle overs. Talking about Bangar, he became the head coach after the IPL 2021 in November of that year. He previously worked as India's batting coach.
As reported by Cricbuzz last month, Flower was in talks with the likes of 2008 winners, Rajasthan Royals and RCB. In the end, it is confirmed that the former Chevrons player will coach the Red Army. On the other hand, it is reported that the legendary South Africa and RCB player, AB de Villiers might join the team as a mentor. Talking about the contracts of Hesson and Bangar, it will end on August 31, 2023.
Andy Flower's coaching resume in a nutshell
The former England head coach helped the team win an Ashes series in 2010-11 for the first time after 1986. Two years later, in 2012, the Three Lions won a Test series in India for the first time after 1984. The South Africa born has also worked with the franchise teams such as St Lucia Kings (a subsidiary of Punjab Kings in the IPL), Multan Sultans in PSL, Gulf Giants in International League T20 UAE (parent team of Gujarat Giants' Women team).
Multan lifted their maiden PSL title in 2021 and ST Lucia played their first final in 2020 under him, losing to Trinbago Knight Riders. Apart from them, the Giants became the inaugural winners of ILT20.

Even if they get greatest players from this era, they can’t even touch the trophy and that’s a fact, at last their fans will enjoy typing bigger fanbase, rcb>ipl, hearts kidney, match fixers
