For the first time in their history, Australia has qualified for the semifinal of the Women's FIFA World Cup 2023. During the game, both Australia and France failed to score during the 90 minutes. Talking about the ball possession, France has 49 percent while the rest of the possession was with the home side. In the Yellow Brigade, Australia had 10 fouls and France had 12.

While Australia had eight corner kicks (failing to convert into a goal), France had 12. Australia saved five goals while France saved three. The game went into the extra time, consisting of 30 minutes. However, after a combined 120 minutes, both teams failed to score. In the end, the winner had to be decided on the basis of a penalty shootout.

The first penalty was taken by Selma Bacha from France. She failed to convert the opportunity. On the other hand, Australia's first opportunity, taken by Caitlin Foord scored a goal. In reply, France equalized thanks to Kadidiatou Diani. In the second penalty by Australia, Steph Catley failed to convert. On the other hand, Australia and France scored a goal each.

Even though France took the lead in the next chance, Australia equalized again. In the end, Australia won the game by 7-6 in a penalty shootout.
