The wait of 4 years will finally come to an end for the fans as ODI World 2023 is set to take place this year. The Indian Cricket Board is prepared to host the major tournament in India and it will be the first time for India to host the entire tournament. India were the joint-host in 2011 with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. 

Since India will host the World Cup, they are viewed as a top contender. It won’t be easy for any team to beat India on their home soil. Meanwhile, former legendary Paksitan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has already predicted his two teams which will qualify for the final. Akhtar said that Pakistan will avenge their 2011 World Cup semi-final loss by defeating India in the 2023 World Cup final.

Shoaib Akhtar has frequently voiced his opinions, which has led to criticism from Indian cricket fans. He can be seen taking a dig at current and former Indian cricketers without any reason to spark some controversies. However, the ‘Rawalpindi Express’ also never shies to heap praise on any Indian cricketer who performs well and have performed well in the past.

Talking about Akhtar’s career, he has represented Pakistan in a total of 46 Tests, 163 ODIs, and 15 T20I matches. He has picked up 178 wickets with his bowling in 82 Test innings at an average of 25.7. Akhtar has bowled in 162 ODI innings, picking up 247 wickets at an average of 24.98. In 15 T20 International innings, he claimed a total of 19 wickets. 

Akhtar also appeared in the augural edition of the India Premier League and took 5 wickets for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at an average of 10.8 in his three IPL games played. Meanwhile, Akhtar also talked about people comparing Virat Kohli with Sachin Tendulkar.

“Sachin is the best batter and only fools can compare Virat with him. There was no batsman before and after him, who has been impactful like him. He is the pinnacle. Virat is the greatest batter at the moment,” Akhtar said in Radi City.
