Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their winning momentum in IPL 2023 after Kolkata Knight Riders defeated them by 21 runs in match number 36 of the season at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday. RCB couldn’t chase the target of 201 runs set by KKR as they went on to lose wickets at regular intervals. Skipper Virat Kohli tried to take his team down the line as he scored his fifth half-century of the season.
Kohli got out in the 13th over after scoring 54 runs off 37 balls with six boundaries. After his wicket, RCB continued to lose wickets and could only reach 179 runs losing 8 wickets. Kohli, who came as a stand-in skipper as Faf du Plessis played as an impact player, was not happy with the performance of his team and also stated that they ‘deserved to lose. As they handed over the game to KKR.
"To be honest we handed over the game to them. We deserved to lose. We weren't professional enough. We bowled well but fielding was not up to standard. This was a freebie handed over to them. In the field, we dropped two chances, that cost us 25-30 runs. When batting, we set us ourselves up very well, but then (suffered) four-five soft dismissals," Kohli said at the post-match presentation.
"Not wicket-taking balls, but we hit straight to the fielders. Even while chasing, after losing wickets, one partnership brought us back in the game. We were one partnership short. We need to stay switched on, and not give away soft plays. We have won one and lost one on the road. It is not something that is making us nervous. We need to win some away games to be in good shape for the later stages of the tournament," he further added.
KKR are unbeaten at Chinnaswamy since 2016
This was RCB’s fourth loss this season and third at their home ground. They currently stand in the fifth position after winning four out of eight games played so far. Meanwhile, KKR finally ended their four-match losing streak with a convincing victory and registered their third win of the season.
With this win, KKR also continued their dominance over RCB in their own backyard. Since 2016, KKR has won all five matches they played against RCB at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium.

🤣🤣
Even RCB is strongest in all areas in any season they are always losing against kkr it became the pattern i had seen most matches kkr vs rcb won by kkr, it is due to spin dominance of kkr and weakness of RCB against spin over the years

Shehzad, full worst in this season.
Karthik, he never cross the ball out of of boundary this season.
Hasaranga, he don’t know playing in Indian pitch.
Prabhudesai, he don’t even care the seriousness and he never becomes serious on game.
