The Mumbai-based franchise continued its winning run in the Women’s T20 League 2023 with the fourth consecutive victory as they defeated UP in the 10th match of the tournament by 8 wickets. With this win, Mumbai remains at the top of the points table with 8 points. It looks like that it's almost impossible to beat Mumbai as their all four wins were promising and they never looked under pressure.

Meanwhile, during this match, a huge act of poor umpiring was seen once again. This time not the on-field umpire, but the third umpire disappointed many fans. The fifth over of the first innings was delivered by UP's Sophie Ecclestone and Mumbai’s explosive opener Hayley Mathews was on strike on the fifth ball of the over. The UP team felt that the ball hit Matthews straight on the pads, due to which they made a strong appeal. But the umpire didn’t show any interest.

The 3rd Umpire had to change his decision

UP decided to take DRS and it seemed that the ball was going straight on the pads and the third umpire asked the on-field umpire to reverse the decision. However, the incident didn’t end there as now the batting team took DRS and stunned everyone. But the more shocking thing happened when it was shown that the ball hit the bat first and the third umpire had to change his own decision in the end and the player had to be given not out.

Interestingly, when the review was taken for the first time, the footage from the right angle was not shown at that time, due to which such a huge umpiring error was criticised by the fans on social media. Talking about the match, UP opted to bat first and gave Mumbai a target of 160 runs. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led team achieved this target in just 17.3 overs at the loss of only 2 wickets. Harmanpreet herself led from the front and scored an explosive half-century in 31 balls against UP.
