The first-ever edition of the Women’s T20 League is all set to kick off on March 4, with the first match between Gujarat and Mumbai at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. Many star cricketers will be in action in the inaugural edition of the much-awaited tournament. However, some stars couldn’t get a single bidder in the auction and went unsold.

5. Megan Schutt

The right-arm fast bowler from Australia, Megan Schutt was sold to the Bangalore-based franchise for just INR 40 Lakhs. She has picked up 123 wickets in 95 T20I matches so far in her career and has performed really well in the Women’s 20-20 World Cup as well. Her ability to take wickets with the new ball will be very helpful for the team. She is currently at no.6 in the T20I world rankings.

4. Deepti Sharma

India’s star allrounder Deepti Sharma was sold to the UP-based franchise for INR 2.60 crores. Despite being a spinner, she comes early to bowl in the powerplay and even has the ability to take wickets in it.

Her batting skills are also great as she can take responsibility if the team lose early wickets. However, she couldn’t perform well in the Women’s 20-20 World Cup. In the semifinal match against Australia, she failed to take the team to victory in the last moments.

Australian cricket and the no.1 T20I ranked allrounder in the world, Ashleigh Gardener became the second most expensive cricketer to be sold in the Women’s T20 league after Smriti Mandhana. The star allrounder was sold to Gujarat for a whopping INR 3.2 crores.

The right-arm off-spinner has taken 52 wickets in 72 T20I matches she played and also scored 1147 runs in her T20I career so far. She is also performing great in the World Cup as well and helped the team to qualify for another World Cup final.

India’s right-arm fast bowler grabbed a lot of attention in the auction and was sold to Bangalore for INR 1.5 crore. The 27-year-old performed really well in the World Cup, she even bagged a fifer against England. Her ability to swing the ball can be dangerous for the batters in the powerplay. Renuka picked up 31 wickets in 32 T20I matches so far.

The left-arm orthodox bowler from England, Sophie Ecclestone is the no.1 T20I-ranked bowler in the world. The 23-year-old bowler was sold to UP for INR 1.8 crores. Her ability to break the crucial partnerships in the middle overs will be very effective for the franchise.

Ecclestone has picked up 97 wickets in 70 T20I matches so far in her career at an economy rate of 5.76. She is also currently the highest wicket-taker in the Women's 20-20 World Cup.
