India didn’t have a great outing till now in the ongoing third Test between India and Australia. The hosts were bowled out for just 109 runs in the first innings. Although fast bowler Umesh Yadav has registered a unique record within his name during Indian innings. Coming to bat at number 10, Yadav got out after scoring 17 runs off 13 balls hitting one four and two sixes.

With those two sixes, Yadav has now hit a total of 24 sixes in his Test career till now. With this, he also surpassed former Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Ravi Shastri in the list of six hitters in the longest formats. Both Yuvraj and Shastri have 22 sixes each in their respective Test careers. Umesh came to bat when India were 88 for 8. His inning helped the hosts to go beyond 100, he was bowled leg-before by the Aussie spinner Matthew Kuhnemann in the 33rd over.

Coming to bat after winning the toss at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, India almost lost a wicket on the very first of the match, as the skipper Rohit Sharma was given not out after he was caught by the wicketkeeper Peter Handscomb on the delivery of Mitchell Starc, the Aussies refused to take a review and later it was seen in the replay that the ball was touching the bat. However, Rohit couldn’t capitalize on the lifeline given to him as he was dismissed by Kuhnemann in the sixth when he decided to go outside the crease against the spinner but missed and the Handscomb did no delay in clearing the bails.

Other Indian batters also couldn’t do something special as Kuhnemann completed his five-wicket haul. The 26-year-old left-arm spinner to scalped 5 wickets in nine overs conceding just 16 runs. He took the big wickets of Rohit, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Umesh Yadav.

Other than Kuhnemann, Nathan Lyon sent 3 Indian batters back to the pavilion. Lyon stunned Cheteshwar Pujara with his big turn that beat the Indian batter trying to play it backward toward offside and the ball crashes the middle stump. He went to dismiss Ravindra Jadeja and KS Bharat. Meanwhile, Todd Murphy took a big wicket of Virat Kohli, bowling him out leg before.
