The Indian T20 League organized by the Indian Cricket Board is getting bigger with time. Meanwhile, there is another franchise league in India, which is on the line to reach a new record. After six successful seasons, Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) auction was held for the first time ever on Thursday, February 23.

Earlier, Dindigul Dragons retained star India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin among the 11 players retained by the various franchises ahead of the auction. Ashwin was also seen on Dindigul’s auction table on Thursday to share his experience in order to sign some brilliant young players.

Ashwin has performed really well in the first two Tests of the four-match Test series against Australia. The star off-spinner took 8 wickets in the first Test match which included a fifer in the second innings. While talking about the second Test match, he picked up 6 wickets and also played a handy knock of 37 runs, Besides, he stitched a beautiful partnership with Axar Patel.

Ashwin will be back in action for the third Test against Australia

Many fans and cricket experts expected that the Kangaroos will show up a better performance against the spinners as they were practicing well against them in the nets but that didn’t happen as Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja picked 31 out of the 40 Australian wickets in just two Test matches.

India are ahead in the series by 2-0 and need just one win to qualify for the World Test Championship final in June. The third Test of the series will be played on March 1 in Indore, while the fourth match will take place in Ahmedabad on March 9. After the conclusion of the Test series, both teams will clash for the three-match ODI series starting on March 17.

Six editions of TNPL have been successfully organized so far. There are many stars of TNPL who later got a chance in the cash-rich league as well. This is the reason that now the tournament’s organizers have decided that for the first time the cricketers will not be selected through draft but instead through auction.

Around 942 cricketers from Tamil Nadu participated in the auction process of TNPL. The auction started on February 23 and will continue again on 24th February at Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu.
