Former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad, who is often seen criticising the Indian batter KL Rahul, is again dissatisfied with how the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper Rahul couldn't chase a small target in the 30th match of the Indian Premier League 2023 to the Gujarat Titans (GT). The defending champions only managed to score 135 runs in the allotted 20 overs after losing the toss in the game.
Chasing the target, LSG was able to hold the match for 15 overs, but in the final five overs, GT completely changed the game with the ball, leaving the opposition stunned and ultimately losing by seven runs. Following this, Prasad couldn't help but vent his dissatisfaction on social media.
“Bottling a run chase when 30 needed off 35 balls with 9 wickets in hand requires some baffling batting. Happened with Punjab in 2020 on a few occasions losing games they should have won easily. As brilliant as Gujarat were with the ball & Hardik smart with his captaincy, brainless from Lko,” the Karnataka player wrote on Twitter.

The poor batting of LSG skipper KL Rahul was specifically mentioned by the former India pacer, despite the fact that he avoided taking names in his tweet. In this game, the latter scored 68 runs in 61 balls. He batted for the side till the 19th over, but he was unable to assist them to win the game. Rahul has previously received criticism for his sluggish batting. Rahul's low strike rate had already made Lucknow's games difficult before this.
Brilliant bowling performance by GT
LSG scored 106 runs while chasing the mark in this encounter against the reigning champions, losing only two wickets in a stretch of 15 overs. The team's two representatives at the crease were the skipper himself and Nicholas Pooran, but the GT bowlers made a surprising comeback from this point on, limiting LSG to just 22 runs till the final over. As a result, Lucknow was only able to score 128 runs after losing five wickets.
When Mohit Sharma arrived to bowl the final over for Gujarat, he displayed an incredible game. In the final over, Mohit had 12 runs to defend. He did this by dismissing Marcus Stoinis and Rahul in two straight balls. Ayush Badoni and Deepak Hooda were then run out. As a result, Lucknow was able to score four runs in their final over and also lost four wickets in the process.
