England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has decided to “subsidise the accommodation cost" ahead of the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) World Games 2023 in Birmingham. The tournament will start on August 18. A day ahead of the game, the India Blind Cricket teams - Men's and Women's reached the United Kingdom. Cricket is making its debut in the games and both teams are gearing up for the same.

However, before reaching England's MidWest region, both teams faced financial hardships. The Indian Cricket Board, despite being the richest board, didn't help them at all. In fact, ECB had to step in and help the specially-abled players to go ahead with the tournament. Meanwhile, the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) officials have thanked the ECB for their support

“We would like to extend thanks to England Cricket Board (ECB) for subsidising our accommodation cost and big thanks to IndusInd Bank for making our visit possible," the CABI officials told IANS ahead of the IBSA World Games in Birmingham.

One of the officials also mentioned how the blind teams of other nations have been supported by their own boards. The official hoped that the Indian board will follow the same.

“Rest of the blind cricket teams which are participating in the tournament are supported by their mainstream cricket boards. Hope someday Indian Cricket Board would follow them," the officials added.
