Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United faced off against each other in the 12th match of the Pakistan Super League. Peshawar Zalmi came into the game on the back of a win against Quetta Gladiators and were hoping to continue the winning momentum. Islamabad United wanted to come back to winning ways as they entered the game after a defeat to Multan Sultans in the last game. 

Pakistan and Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam has been scoring runs for fun and was back for his team yesterday as he stayed right till the end of the innings. Peshawar were cruising at 76-0 but a flurry of wickets saw them reeling at 97-5. Babar made sure he was there till the end and took Pakistan to a fighting total of 156/8 in 20 overs. 

It was an easy chase for the Islamabad batters on this perfect batting pitch. Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Rassie Van Der Dussen, and Asif Ali ensured their team crossed the target without much difficulty and got the two points and increased their net run rate by winning with 31 balls to spare.

Hasan Ali was adjudged the Player of the match for his brilliant effort with the ball, which was one of the reasons for the opposition’s batting collapse. Islamabad United will face Quetta Gladiators today in Karachi and would want to continue the winning formula as they did against Peshawar Zalmi. Babar Azam and Co. would be hoping to push for a win against Lahore Qalandars this Sunday and get back to winning ways after this one-sided defeat.

During the Pakistan Super League 2023 game between Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United, Babar Azam and Hasan Ali got into a comical on-field argument when the batter attempted to humorously hit the bowler with his bat while finishing a run. The commentators laughed when the Pakistani captain raised his bat as though he were about to strike Hasan Ali, who also moved away, pretending to be scared.
