Talking about the match, the Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first. However, the decision didn’t prove right as Peshawar scored 199 for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs, courtesy of brilliant half-centuries from Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Babar Azam.

Imad Wasim's 80-run knock went in vain

Kohler-Cadmore scored 92 off 50 balls with the help of 7 fours and 6 sixes while Babar scored 68 off 46 balls. He smashed 7 fours and 1 six during his innings. Allrounder James Neesham remained unbeaten on 16 off 11 balls. Mir Hamza, AJ Tye, Imran Tahir, and Ben Cutting took 1-1 wickets for Karachi Kings.

During the run chase, the Kings were under pressure initially as they lost their 2 wickets for just 34 runs. Both Kings openers Matthew Wade and Sharjeel Khan lost their wickets in the powerplay. However, after this, captain Imad Wasim and experienced batsman Shoaib Malik performed brilliantly to bring the team back into the match.

Wasim played an unbeaten knock of 80 runs off just 47 deliveries which included 7 fours and 4 sixes. Despite batting at a strike rate of 170.21, he could not lead his team to victory. Apart from this, an inning of 52 runs came off the bat of veteran Malik. He smashed 4 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. Wahab Riaz and James Neesham took 2-2 wickets for Peshawar Zalmi, while Salman Irshad took 1 wicket for 42 runs in 4 overs.
