In the 9th match of the Major League Cricket, Washington Freedom beat LA Knight Riders by 6 wickets. Despite Andre Russell's amazing batting performance, LA Knight Riders failed to defend a decent total. However, with this loss, LAKR is now officially out of the race for Playoffs. Meanwhile, WSH moved to the third position in the points table keeping their hope alive.

Earlier, in the game, WSH skipper Moises Henriques won the toss and opted to bowl first. His decision went well with the team as LAKR lost four wickets for just 68 runs. Opener Jason Roy, Unmukt Chand, Nitish Kumar and Jaskaran Malhotra failed to put up a show. They scored 7, 18, 9 and 12, respectively and once again disappointed the team management.

However, Rilie Russouw and Andre Russell took charge and added 86 runs for the fifth wicket. Russouw, in his innings, scored 41 runs off 30 balls with the help of four sixes. Meanwhile, Russell, in his amazing batting performance, scored 70 runs off 37 balls with the help of seven fours and seven sixes. This means he didn't bother to score a single run by running. With his amazing efforts, LA Knight Riders posted a competitive total of 175/7 in 20 overs.

Andries Gous pulled off a playoffs berth from LA Knight Riders

Chasing 176, WSH got off to a brilliant start as opener Andries Gous and Matthew Short added 68 runs for the first wicket. This partnership lasted just 34 years and gave Washington Freedom a much-needed start. Gous, in his innings, scored 40 runs off 15 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes. Meanwhile, Short scored 43 runs off 35 balls with the help of three fours and a six.

In the end, skippers Henriques and Obus Piennar added 41 runs for the fifth wicket and won the game for WTF. With this victory, WTF has kept its hopes alive for the playoffs, while the LA Knight Riders become the first team to get eliminated from Major League Cricket. Notably, they have failed to win any of their four games this season.
