During the music launch of his next film 'Jailer,' superstar Rajinikanth expressed his opinions about the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise. SRH IPL performances have not been easy for them in recent years. They have just 4 victories from 14 games, which left led them to the last position in the IPL in 2023.

Throughout this year's tournament, the Aiden Markram-led squad never appeared to pose a serious threat to the other nine teams. Even though the roster included several well-known players, they lacked firepower. They are at the bottom of the standings as a result of the team's instability.

Rajinikanth also advised Kavya Menon who is the CEO of SRH, and father Kalanithi Maran, to consider recruiting better players to enhance the team’s performance. He stated, "Kalanithi Maran (Father of Kavya Maran) should put good players in Sunrisers Hyderabad team. I feel bad seeing Kavya like that on TV during the IPL."

When she chooses the team at the auction table or expresses herself in the crowd, the fans can feel her passion. The fans of SRH are accustomed to seeing an angry Kavya in the VIP box at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad more often than they are accustomed to seeing a cheerful one.

With successive bottom-of-the-table results in the 2021 and 2023 seasons and a comparatively dismal eighth-place finish in 2022, SRH has recently gone through a tough patch. The team's on-field performance did not much improve after changing their captain.

Warner and Williamson's release and the franchise's changing player management strategy have led some to doubt their strategic thinking. Even having Aiden Markram as the team's captain in the most recent season, SRH was unable to reverse their fortunes, leaving both fans and management looking for methods to improve the team's performance.

This request from 'Thalaiva' to the SRH owner has gone viral on the internet, gathering reactions from the fans on social media. The owners and the coaches performed well at the auction but the players failed to meet the expectations once again. SRH management team will be looking ahead to the IPL 2024 Auction.

IPL, after initial few years of enforcing it, did away with the minimum number of players in the squad from the catchment area… that meant there could be teams with no local players in the playing XI… owners are not local… what’s Hyderabad about the team other than the Fans…
