UP and Bangalore locked horns in the eighth game of the ongoing Women's T20 League 2023 at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. Ahead of the game, the Red Army, Bangalore was looking for their first win in the tournament after registering a hat trick of losses. On the other hand, UP was looking for their second win in three games. Meanwhile, at the toss, Bangalore won the coin flip and elected to bat first.

Once again, the team had a good start as Sophie Devine was beating up the opposition bowlers. On the other hand, skipper Smirit Mandhana's poor form continued as she fell for four runs. Devine scored 36 off just 24 balls before getting out to Sophie Ecclestone's straighter one. Ellyse Perry scored 52 off 39 balls including six fours and one six.

When she was batting, the team looked like getting a big total. However, just like the previous games, the team faltered in the middle overs and was restricted to 138 all-out in 19.3 overs. For the Yellow brigade, Ecclestone took four wickets while Deepti Sharma took three.

Alyssa Healy brushes aside Bangalore with Devika Vaidya

In reply, the Lucknow-based team decided to promote Devika Vaidya in the opening slot with skipper Alyssa Healy. While the former played the anchor, the Australia international on the other hand showed no mercy to the Bangalore bowlers.

Both put together an unbeaten partnership of 139 runs in 13 overs with Healy scoring 96 not out in 47 balls including 18 fours and one six. After the game, Ecclestone praised the opening pair, especially Healy. The former said "Healy showed how good he can be. She was unbelievable and a great cameo by Devika as well. Devika taking the pressure off her (Healy) helped her as well."
