The third Test of the four-match Test series between India and Australia will be starting on Wednesday, March 1 in Indore. The Indian team is leading 2-0 in the series and will be eyeing to win the third Test as well in order to seal the series. The victory in this Test match will take India to the finals of the World Test Championship in June.

Meanwhile, ahead of the third Test, India's captain Rohit Sharma attended a press conference and talked about many important things. He also talked about opener KL Rahul’s poor form and him being sacked from the vice-captaincy role in the longest format. Rohit said that someone being the vice-captain or not does not give you any kind of indication.

"I said it after the last game also. When we talk about players going through a tough time, anyone with potential will be given enough time to prove himself. Being vice-captain or not being vice-captain doesn't tell you anything. At that point in time when he was the vice-captain, he was probably the senior most. His removal of vice-captaincy doesn't indicate anything," Rohit said on Tuesday.

As far as Gill and KL are concerned: Rohit Sharma

Rahul was the vice-captain of Team India till the first two Test matches, but when the team was announced for the last two Tests, he was removed from the vice-captaincy role. However, the Indian team management hasn’t announced their new vice-captain yet. Rahul is constantly struggling with his bad form and failed to provide anything special in the first two Test matches.

There is a constant demand for the exclusion of the right-hander from the playing XI. The team management and coaches have supported him continuously, but still, he hasn’t performed well for a while. The questions are being raised whether the team management will give a chance to Rahul in Indore as well, or will Shubman Gill be tried this time.

"As far as Gill and KL both are concerned, that is how they train and practice before any game. Today was an optional training session for the entire group. All 17-18 are in the reckoning. It's not just about Gill and Rahul. But as far as our XI is concerned, we have not finalised it yet. I prefer it to be announced at the toss. Can't count out last-minute injuries and all and we will keep it interesting for you guys as well," Rohit added.
