India enjoyed some brilliant performances on Sunday, October 1 in the ongoing Asian Games 2023 as Avinash Sable ended up winning the gold medal in the 3000m steeplechase. It was also the 12th medal for the Indian contingent in the ongoing Asian Games 2023. Just a few moments after Sable’s Gold, Tajinderpal Singh Toor won another gold medal, which increased India’s count of medals to 45.
Furthermore, Jyothi Yarraji, Ajay Kumar Saroj, Harmilan Bains and Murali Sreeshankar won the silver medal, which added one more medal to India’s name in the points table.
Later, Seema Punia, Nandini Agasara and Jinson Johnson also won three respective bronze medals followed by Aditi Ashok’s silver medal in women’s individual golf competition to help India touch the total of 50 medals in the Asian Games 2023.
Shooters start Sunday with a gold medal for India
Apart from these medals, Rajeshwari Kumari, Preeti Rajak and Manisha Keer also won a silver in the women’s trap team competition. Notably, India have won 20 medals in the Asian Games in the shooting discipline only.
India’s first goal on Sunday was won by the men’s trap team, including the likes of Zoravar Singh Sandhu, Kynan Darius Chenai and Prithviraj Tondaiman. Apart from team gold, Chenai also bagged a silver medal in the individual trap competition.
One of the favourites of the gold medal in boxing, Nikhat Zareen couldn’t live up to her stature and ended up winning a bronze following a defeat in the semi-final of the competition. The day ended with another silver for India after the men’s badminton team lost to China by a margin of 2-3 in the final.
India are currently placed number four in the medal tally with a total of 53 medals, including 13 gold, 21 silver medals, and 42 bronze medals.
