Ahead of the first game of the 16th season of the Indian T20 League, former South Africa superstar AB de Villiers has named his top four teams for the tournament. Notably, the first game of the season is set to start in some time as Chennai will take on Gujarat at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Ahead of the game, De Villiers, along with Chris Gayle, has picked their top four teams, who can make it to the playoffs this season.

Former Bangalore players picked up their teams while speaking in the panel expert of Jio Cinema. For the two-month-long cricketing fest, De Villiers picked MS Dhoni’s Chennai along with defending champions Gujarat, Hyderabad, and his former team Bangalore to qualify for the playoffs. Meanwhile, Universe Boss Chris Gayle shocked everyone with his pick as he didn’t pick his former team Bangalore to qualify for the playoffs.

The West Indies superstar picked defending champions Gujarat, and five-time champions Mumbai, Rajasthan, and Lucknow to qualify for the playoffs. Notably, the duo was recently introduced in the hall of fame by the Bangalore franchise for their contribution to the franchise.

Will Gujarat be able to make a winning hat-trick over Chennai?

In the first game of the tournament, MS Dhoni-led Chennai will take on defending Champions Gujarat. Hardik Pandya led-Gujarat will look to continue their dominance over Chennai to register their third victory over them. Meanwhile, the four-time champions will try to make a comeback as they finished 9th last year.

Chennai skipper MS Dhoni is reportedly playing his last season in the Indian T20 League and the team will look to give him a great farewell. Dhoni retook the captaincy role for the franchise, last year, after Ravindra Jadeja failed to lead the team in a great manner.

Chennai will also be looking for a serious candidate for the captaincy role to replace MS Dhoni for the upcoming seasons. Meanwhile, fans react to AB de Villiers' pick and called his prediction a big failure. A Twitter user said, “All of his picks will surely fail to qualify.”
