Delhi Capitals (DC) has been going through a rough patch in the IPL 2023 as they lost all of their five matches so far. To add to their woes, a major setback has hit the team as 16 bats along with pads, shoes, thigh pads, and gloves were reported stolen from players' kit bags. Among those 16 bats, five bats belonged to teenager Yash Dhull, three belonged to captain David Warner, two to all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, three to wicketkeeper-batsman Phil Salt, and three to all-rounder Mitchell Marsh.

A source close to DC expressed the team's shock at the incident and said, "All of them were shocked when they heard that everyone had lost something or the other from their kit bags. This is the first time such an incident has happened and the matter was soon raised to the logistics department, police, and later at the airport. The investigation is on."

DC's confusion is evident as this is the first time a franchise has lost cricket equipment while in transit. However, they have filed a complaint regarding the incident and are hoping for a positive outcome from the investigation. Despite the setback, DC managed to continue their practice sessions ahead of their clash against Kolkata Knight Riders on 20 April 2023.

Many DC players have contacted their representatives and asked to send them a handful of bats before the next game. This incident has caused a significant blow to the team's morale, which has already been struggling on the field. However, they are determined to put up a good fight against Kolkata Knight Riders, a team they defeated twice in the last edition of the IPL.

This theft has been a significant setback for DC, as their players have lost their valuable equipment, which could affect their performance on the field. The franchise is hoping for a quick resolution to this issue and is taking all necessary steps to ensure the safe transportation of their equipment in the future.
