In the first game of the three-match series, Ireland and India locked horns in Malahide, Dublin. For the visitors, India, the likes of Rinku Singh and Prasidh Krishna made their debuts. In fact, the former made his international debut while Krishna played his T20I game, having played ODIs before. Also, he made his comeback after a back injury that ruled him out of the IPL 2023 and the West Indies tour.

On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah played his first game after September last year. Not to forget, he is also the captain of the team for the series. After all, Hardik Pandya has been rested for the series as the Indian team management, consisting of head coach Rahul Dravid and his team of batting, bowling, and fielding coaches will organize a camp for Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, after winning the toss, the Men In Blue decided to bowl first. They had a great start as Bumrah took two wickets in the first over. Debutant, Krishna and leggie Ravi Bishnoi took one wicket each inside the powerplay to create more damage. With the former taking one more and Arshdeep Singh opening his account, the home side was reduced to 59/6. Once again, India's problems against tailenders bit them a bit.

Barry McCarthy hit an unbeaten 51 off 33 while Curtis Campher (39) helped the team reach 139/7. The duo put together 57 runs for the seventh wicket.

In reply, the Jasprit Bumrah-led side had a slow start as after scoring 10 runs in the first over, they managed only 12 more in the next three. However, both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a few boundaries to improve the scoring rate. This not only kept them ahead in the chase but also in the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Method. Despite losing two back-to-back wickets in the seventh over, the team was ahead by two runs, eventually ending up winning the game by the same difference.
