The Indian cricket team is all set for the upcoming long tour of the West Indies. They will compete in 3 ODIs, 5 T20Is, and 2 Tests. The 2 Test matches between both teams will be played from July 12 to July 24. The Test series will be followed by 3-match ODI series from July 27 to August 1 and the five T20I matches are slated to take place from August 4 to August 13.

Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma didn’t have a great outing as a leader in the recently concluded World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 final. The Men in Blue had to suffer an embarrassing 209-run loss against Australia. Meanwhile, Rohit had to face backlash from fans on social media after he did an advertisement post on Twitter. Many fans have advised him to prepare for the upcoming series while some trolled him for the WTC final loss.

I would be keeping the faith with Rohit: Michael Clarke

Talking about Rohit’s captaincy in the longest format, it isn’t bad as he guided the team and made sure India advanced to the WTC final. But his age and physical condition pose a threat to ruin it all. KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah are the three players who are reportedly to take place as the Test captain after Rohit, however, all three are currently injured and have no set timetable for a potential recovery. Meanwhile, former Australian captain Michael Clarke has come forward and backed Rohit.

“I would be keeping the faith with Rohit. I think he is a very good captain. I like his aggressive approach; he looks to be as positive as he can be. He has had a lot of success as a leader. Look at his IPL record for Mumbai (Indians). Just because India didn’t win the Test World Championship doesn’t mean Rohit is not the right guy to lead India.

The fact that India qualified again, they are the only team to make consecutive finals, says a lot about how they have played their Test cricket over the past four years. It is also a very important time for stability with the One-Day World Cup right around the corner,” Clarke was quoted as saying by News18.
