Punjab Kings (PBKS) opening batter Prabhsimran Singh has been in tremendous touch in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The 22-year-old made headlines by scoring his maiden IPL hundred in match number 59 of the season. Because of his knock, PBKS posted a total of 167 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.
DC skipper David Warner won the toss and asked PBKS to bat first. PBKS didn’t have a great start as they lost their skipper Shikhar Dhawan for 10 runs in the second over of the match after he decided to take on Ishant Sharma but ended up giving a catch to Rilee Rossouw at deep mid-wicket. A couple of overs later, Ishant struck again as he bowled out Liam Livingstone at a score of 32 runs. In the next over, PBKS suffered a third blow as Axar Patel cleared Jitesh Sharma’s stumps at the 45 runs.
Prabhsimran hit the fifth hundred in IPL 2023
After that, Prabhsimran added 72 runs with Sam Curran for the fourth wicket. Curran got out after playing a slow knock of 20 runs off 24 balls. While Prabhsimran took the innings further with wickets falling regularly from the other end. He finally got out in the second ball of the 19th over after scoring 103 runs off 65 balls hitting 10 fours and six sixes. Prabhsimran hit the fifth century of IPL 2023 after Harry Brook, Venkatesh Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Suryakumar Yadav. He has amassed 244 runs in the 12 matches played so far including 1 half century and a hundred.
For DC, Ishant Sharma scalped 2 wickets by conceding 27 runs in his three overs. Meanwhile, Axar Patel, Praveen Dubey, Kuldeep Yadav and Mukesh Kumar shared a wicket each. Chasing a target of 168 runs, DC had a flying start by David Warner and Phil Salt.
The following match is crucial for both teams in order to keep themselves alive in the tournament. For DC, it is a do-or-die encounter as they have already lost 7 matches so far and will be eliminated from the tournament if they lose the ongoing match.
