There are many new records being made in the ongoing 8th season of the Pakistan Super League. The 28th match of the season saw only big hitting display from the batters of both Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators. The highest-ever T20 total on Pakistan soil was also made in the match by Multan Sultans.

The Gladiators won the toss and opted to bowl first. The fans saw some unbelievable hitting as bowlers were hammered all around the park, especially by Multan’s opener Usman Khan, who scored the fastest century of the tournament on Saturday.

The 27-year-old right-handed batter hit a blistering century off just 36 balls. He scored 120 runs off 43 balls, including 12 fours and nine sixes, before being dismissed. Due to the fiery inning of Usman, the team was able to achieve a monumental total of 156 runs in just ten overs that too without any loss.

It took Usman Khan less than 24 hours to break the record of his own teammate Riley Russouw, who scored a century in just 41 balls against Peshawar Zalmi on Friday night. The earlier record was also in the name of Riley Russouw of South Africa, who scored a century in 43 balls against Quetta Gladiators in the year 2020.

Abbas Afridi took a hat-trick

However, they didn’t stop there and achieved a monumental total of 262 runs for the loss of three wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, which is also the biggest score in the history of the tournament. Qais Ahmed was the highest wicket-taker for Quetta but conceded 77 runs in his 4 overs.

Chasing the target, the Gladiators didn’t have a good start as they lost Jason Roy early but Omair Yousuf and Iftikhar Ahmed, with a 104-run stand for the fourth wicket, ignited some hopes before they departed. Umar Akmal looked dangerous but Abbas Afridi took a hat-trick before taking a fifer to close the game out and won the match by 9 runs.
