On Tuesday night, the Chennai Super Kings defeated the defending champion Gujarat Titans to advance to their eleventh Indian Premier League final. The team captained by Hardik Pandya, which had ended first in the standings, will have another opportunity to advance to the championship game, but they will face the victors of the semifinal match between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants.
Meanwhile, former CSK allrounder Dwayne Bravo, who is currently serving as the team's bowling coach, has appeared to confirm that CSK skipper MS Dhoni will continue to play in the upcoming season. When anchor Mayanti Langer questioned Bravo following the game about if Dhoni would be wearing the coveted yellow shirt, Bravo responded, "100%."
“100 per cent. Especially with the Impact Player rule. It will keep prolonging his career. He bats really deep. I think the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, (Shivam) Dube... these guys make a huge difference. You don't require much from MS. But he has the ability to keep his calm when the team is under pressure," Bravo was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
Why take that headache now?: MS Dhoni on his retirement plans
Dhoni was also questioned about his plans for the 17th edition of the franchise. Dhoni emphasised that he had enough time to make a decision about his CSK future even if he did not announce his comeback.
"Frankly, it takes a heavy toll. I have been out of the home for literally four months. I will always come to CSK. I have been out of home since January, been practising since March, so we will see. January 31 was when I got out of the house, finished my work, and started practising from the 2nd or 3rd of March. It takes a lot, but I have ample time to decide. I have 8-9 months to decide. Why take that headache now? I have ample time to decide. The auction is in December."
