'Bolne de, takleef hua hai bechare ko' - Twitter reacts as RCB fans abuse Shubman Gill and his sister after his match-winning century against RCB

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had another disappointing end to their Indian Premier League campaign as they failed to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2023 after getting beaten by Gujarat Titans in the last league match by 6 wickets at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, May 21.

GT’s young opener Shubman Gill smashed another century and took the team to victory but soon after the match, the disheartened RCB fans started abusing him on social media. They also tweeted some nasty comments about his sister Shahneel Gill. However, many users requested the fans to maintain their dignity and respect the cricketers and their families.

Meanwhile, talking about the match, GT skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bowl first. RCB batting innings was all about Virat Kohli who smashed his 2nd century of the season and took the team to a competitive target single-handedly. Kohli and Faf du Plessis started well but the latter departed in the 8th over and no other batter could support Kohli. However, Michael Bracewell stitched a 47-run stand with Kohli and steadied the ship and in the end, RCB ended up scoring 197 runs.

Poor bowling performance by RCB

In response, GT started well despite losing Wriddhiman Saha in the 3rd over of the 2nd innings as they managed to score 51 runs in the mandatory powerplay. Shubman Gill showed his consistency and stitched a match-winning partnership of 123 runs for the 2nd wicket with allrounder Vijay Shankar. Gill smashed consecutive hundred in the tournament, however, Shankar was dismissed after an outstanding half-century.

Gill scored 104 runs off just 52 balls including 5 fours and 8 sixes, he completed his century with a match-winning six on the 1st ball of the last over. Mohammed Siraj and Harshal Patel were the only bowlers who picked up wickets and were economical as well. Siraj picked up 2 wickets and conceded only 32 runs in his 4 overs quota while Harshal conceded 29 runs and picked up 1 wicket in 4 overs. GT finished as the table toppers in the league stage points table, on the other hand, RCB finished at the no. 6 spot with 14 points in 14 matches.
