In their first Indian T20 League game at Chinnaswamy after around four years, Faf du Plessis’ Bengaluru faced five times champion Mumbai. It was the fifth game of the 16th season of the Indian T20 League and Young Mumbai batter Tilak Verma marked his presence in the game. The 20-year-old batter hammered a magnificent half-century to rescue his team from 48-4 and took them to finish at 171/7 in 20 overs.

The young Hyderabad batter hammered his third half-century in the Indian T20 League when his team needed it most. Tilak, in his innings, scored unbeaten 84 runs off 46 balls with the help of nine boundaries and four maximums. Tilak, in his innings, hammered all Bangalore bowlers and played with an impressive strike rate of 182.61.

Earlier, after winning the toss, Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis considered the dew factor and decided to bowl first. Put to bat first, Mumbai didn’t start well as they lost the first four wickets for just 48 runs. Skipper Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Camroon Green, and Suryakumar Yadav departed in cheap as Mohammed Siraj created havoc in Mumbai’s camp. When Mumbai was in deep trouble two young batters, Tilak Verma and Nehal Wadhera, added 50 runs for the fifth wicket and helped Mumbai to stabilize the run chase.

Death over once again haunted Bangalore

In the end, Tilak, along with allrounder Arshad Khan, added 48 runs to help Mumbai to finish at 171/7 in 20 overs. Wadhera, in his quick innings, hammered 21 runs off 13 balls while Arshad Khan scored 15 runs off 9 balls. For Bangalore, Mohammed Siraj was their top bowler as he clinched one wicket but gave just 21 runs in four overs.

However, in the last four overs, Bangalore failed to control the run flow as Tilak along with Arshad and Wadhera as they added 60 runs. Bangalore bowlers once again failed to keep calm in death overs and let Mumbai score a competitive total. Meanwhile, fans react to Tilak Verma’s amazing innings and call him a future superstar. A Twitter user said, “Ye last year se Mumbai ka bojh utha raha hai.”
